History

From 2006/07 to 2007/08 Aria Asady-Sabet & Daniel Moynihan were players for the Kings Arms FC (a football team based in the Epsom & Ewell area). However, after two seasons the pair were not happy with the clubs general ethics.

So in 2008 they founded the Kings Arms sister team known as the Kings Arms Renegades, or better known as K.A. Renegades with a little financial help from the Kings Arms thanks to their manager at the time Peter Solomon.

After a successful first season (2008/09) that saw the Renegades finish mid-table, the decision was taken to split completely from the Kings Arms for various reasons. From 2009 onwards the team were renamed the Sporting Renegades which is the title we still hold today.

A very testing 2009/10 saw the renegades record their worst ever season since their existence after going on a 16 game losing run and finishing the season rock bottom.

However the Renegades remained united the following season (2010/11) and bounced back in spectacular fashion by going on a 15 game winning streak. This ensured an exciting finish to the season with the Renegades and two other teams able to win the league going into the final game. Although the Renegades eventually finished 3rd, the season was seen as a success after a strong finish in the league as well as good cup runs that saw the team go out in the semi-finals of two inter league cups and out in the quarter finals of the county cup.

The 2011/12 season saw much of the same high quality performances from the Renegades with the league title once again going down to the wire with the Renegades once again finishing 3rd.
Now in the 2012/13 season, after 5 years of existence, The Sporting Renegades have become a structured club of around 26 first team players and 6 reserve players with a waiting list full of players that wish to join the clubs heritage.

Notable People
Manager / Chairman / Founder - Aria Asady-Sabet

Aria would seem to be the least likely person to manage a team. Only found interest in football after watching the 1994 world cup final and only started to play the sport in 2000. However what Aria lacked in previous experience he made up for with enthusiasm, thanks to some inspirational wise words from Arsène Wenger - "No one can be absolutely wrong in football". Aside from football, Aria only likes snowboarding and scotch!
Assistant Manager / Club Secretary / Founder - Daniel Moynihan

Daniel has over 8 years worth of experience in accounts and has worked for a number of reputable companies such as Samsung, Thompson and now currently Joseph Joseph which makes him the perfect candidate to look after the clubs treasury.........you would think! Daniel likes cheese and folk music and wants to one day live in New York.
Training Coordinator / Columnist - Peter Solomon

Peter is a seasoned Semi-Professional football player and has previously played for the Epsom & Ewell football team. The higher level of training that he has received over the years means that he now possesses the knowledge needed to act as the co-training coordinator for the Renegades. Peter doesn't like women who have "funny" toes or hands or chins.
Training Coordinator - Naz Abdelkhaliq

Naz has over 5 years experience as a football coach and brings with him his unique and effective training methods which he has picked up over his career. Naz is a great student of the sport and is always learning and exploring new ways to achieve his goals. Naz does not like the cold and in the winter it is not unusual to see him sporting 3 scarves, 2 jackets, 2 gloves and a tea cosy on his head.
Captain - Troy Dyall

The likeable Troy quickly made a name for himself in the team for his relentless workrate and positive thinking, not to mention his on and just as importantly off the pitch selfless contributions. His encouraging and logical voice is always welcome on a Sunday morning.
When Troy isn't able to play he likes to watch from the comfort of the "WAGS" picnic blanket where he is showered with cupcakes and treated like the princess he thinks he is!
Vice Captain - Tom Wylie

Tom has been with the Renegades from the very beginning and has become a key figure in the changing room and on the pitch with his positive and lively attitude.
Tom likes to try and attend every single festival and rave going then once he's had enough he likes to use his contacts to get free chips from the fish and chip shop in Wimbledon!
3rd Captain - Colin Borrowdale

Colin joined the Renegades in 2012 and quickly established himself within the team as a calm, calculated and composed rock in our back line who is just as comfortable in the middle of the park. Aside from his obvious footballing qualities and truely devastating long throws, he also brings in man motivation skills which he solely focuses on Dan! If Dan is on the pitch then you can be sure Colin is watching!
Official Photographer - Darren Le Men

Darren, a photography enthusiast has a great talent in the art. Over the years he has invested money and time into learning as much as he can in the trade and since 2010 has been the official photographer of Sporting Renegades. Darren is nicknamed "Le Shake" because of a rumor (it's true) that he likes milkshakes so much he reportedly keeps a blender next to his bed with ingredients ready to go.
Official News Reader - Charles Marcus Chizelnips

Charles joined the Renegades early on in 2009 where he quickly established himself as a serious factual news reader of the famous weekly - Renegades News Feed. He was a popular hit with the fans and was most remembered for routinely abandoning the script and adding his own opinionated comments. In the later years, a fierce rivalry developed between him and his Scotish female co-anchor - Agnes Bottom-Tickles. Charles was relieved of his duties in 2010 due to dropping viewing figures. Today, a bearded and depressed Charles can often be found wondering the warm streets of London drinking milk.
2008-2011 - Rob Watts

Rob Watts was our very first serving Captain, chosen for his long list of character qualities.
As a centre back who often played sweeper he was vitial to organising the back line. But it didn't stop there as he would also often be heard organising and reassuring the rest of the team too. Unfortunetly but understandably in 2011, due to his injuries he made the decision to step down and pass the batton on. However to this date he is the benchmark of what any team would look for in their Captain. He is always greatly respected by the players and managment and will forever have a place in the team.
2011-2012 - Peter Solomon

Peter has always had a strong link with the Renegades and also had a hand to play in the clubs formation. On the pitch he is a hard working and talented individual respected by all, including our opposition. His captaincy style was one of leading by example and he was always vocal, encouraging his fellow teammates and squeezing as much performance out of each player as possible. Peter brought a wealth of experience which he gained as the former manager of the Kings Arms FC and Semi-Professional football player. To this date he is still an integral part of the team.
2012-2014 - Ben Jackson

Ben came from the Kings Arms ranks where he worked his way up to earn the captain's arm band there. Ben, after just one season with the Renegades made such a strong impression that he was selected as the Renegades third ever captain. Ben's pure passion and love for the club shines through every game and no matter what the conditions or circumstances you can always be sure of Jacksons sky high selfless work rate. He always raises the team spirit with his enthusiasm and good humour. A proud Renegade, perhaps the proudest of all and a man of lion's heart.

Part of the clubs core ethics when it was founded was to give all of the players equal oppertunity without penalising players with lesser abilities. It's all about getting a right balance between performance and enjoyment for all.

To help achieve this the 2.0 Rotation Policy was introduced wich has been tailored and improved over the years to help guid player selection.

1.1 Player availability history. (Players that make themselves available more often should obviously be rewarded when it comes to selection. Though this is not the only thing taken into consideration.)
1.2 Competition for particular position. (i.e. I am not going to play myself (Aria) in goal or CB just to fulfil player rotation when I know I am no good there. Certain players compete over certain positions. Some positions have more competion.)
1.3 Previous DNS's (Did Not Show). (Very important for reasons that should be obvious. Because you are compromising the team and at the same time letting someone else who could have had the place be dropped!)
1.4 Previous unused sub status. (Players who get dropped on the rotation will have an automatic place in the following weeks 14 player selection only.)
1.5 Importance of given match. (e.g. For the County FA Cup semi-final a different selection process was used to reward players that got us there.)
1.6 Player effort and work rate. (Very important because from 26 players if you are in the 11 that is on the field you are privileged and playing when others had to miss out. So all that would be ask is that 100% effort is given.)
1.7 Player attitude. (Bad attitude towards me, our team, the referee, the opposition or anyone else has never been tolerated and will not be. If you are one to get into trouble often do not be surprised to find that you are routinely not selected.)
1.8 Any player contributions off the pitch. (It is only fair that this is rewarded when considering selection. All types of activity is considered a contribution.)
1.9 Any special circumstances. (e.g. Matt Burentarawa is only available every 3 weeks or so due to his work schedule which is out of his control so he is not penalised for availability to the full extent. Otherwise if these and other types of special circumstances were never taken into consideration, some players would never get a single game.)
2.0 Hidden rule which is hidden for good reason. The purpose of disclosing the fact that there is a hidden rule is to let you know that there is another bases that comes into the selection decision. You may figure out the rule by yourself but either way we will let you know the rule once we retire. Only then will you understand why it needed to remain hidden.
